8.12.2013// Experience #3
And with coming back home, not only d my summer camp adventures come to a close, so does my actually summer. With school beginning in a day, I suppose it’s time to summarize what I spent the majority of my summer doing.

Summer Camps

Two of them, to be exact. Perhaps you’ll find it interesting to know that these were actually my first ever sleep-away camp experiences. Actually, I think they were my first regular camps as well. My first camp experience was GSP back in my home state for 5 weeks, whereas my second camp experience, NSLC, was in San Francisco/Berkeley for 11 days. Both camps had their positives and their negatives and were two entirely different experiences.

So since I post daily, I have reflections for each day I spent at the two respective summer camps. Thus, finding out how I felt and what my reactions were shouldn’t be difficult. I will attach the links to read about the days I spent at camp, but I would also just like to briefly summarize, in a paragraph or so, my experience with each campus.

The first camp was the one based in my home state, GSP. Since it was for such a long amount of time, I was incredibly worried about it going in. Several of my friends had gone through this experience and had told me that I was in for the best experience of my life! Sadly, that was not true. While I did have an awesome time and I met some amazing people, it was not what I had expected. The classes disappointed me, and the entire program wasn’t what I expected. Perhaps I was too homesick, but I found myself shying away from social events and thus I only made a few very close friends. They say your experience is what you make it, thus the blame is on me. However, I was probably the only one excite to leave. After 5 weeks, everyone around me was crying on closing day; I was the only one giddy to be leaving. While I’m glad that I participated, and I learned several things from the experience, it juts did not live up to my expectations. NSLC was the second program I attended and GSP couldn’t compare to it at all. Right from the very beginning, I knew I was in for a much different experience. Where at GSP the negatives outweighed the positives, it was the opposite for NSLC. I felt as if the people were nicer and more diverse, there were no cliques/groups, the activities were more entertaining, we actually studied in our classes, the food was better (HUGE plus!), as was the location. I suppose the biggest difference between the two was that while GSP was free, we had to pay for NSLC and that is probably why the advantages to the second program were much more. However, that shouldn’t be of relevance, because I as a person was the same at both programs, and I acted the same. So going back to “The experience is what you make of it”, this experience was so much better! If that isn’t convincing enough, perhaps this will be. Spending 5 weeks with everyone, I shed not a single tear at the programs closing; spending 11 days with my NSLC group, I was bawling days before we had to leave. And considering I rarely cry, that should be an indication of how I felt about each program. Nonetheless, I am grateful for having had the opportunity to experience both! They have changed me as a person for the better and I am glad for that. If anyone has the opportunity to attend either, I sincerely recommend either one!

7.20.2013// Home Sweet Home

So good to finally be back home again! Sad to see the program end, but lucky to be with my parents again.

Finally, after 5 long weeks, I can at last say that I have made it back from GSP and I am officially a Governor’s Scholar! To that I say, bring on the scholarships!;) But, in all seriousness, I honestly had the best time I could have and spent five weeks with some of the most like-minded, intelligent, ambitious, and wonderful people I could have ever met. Now, worn out from the day’s early rise, long closing ceremony in a hot gymnasium, the flux of emotions from seeing my family and saying good-bye to all, I am ready to once again sleep in my own bed - Hallelujah! I will keep this short and sweet considering I plan on doing a post on this program and on my San Francisco one (which i leave for on the 1st of August) later on, but i would just like to once more say how thankful I am for being given this amazing opportunity - GSP will without a doubt stick with me for the rest of my life!
7.19.2013// A Bittersweet Farewell

Today was our official official last day but it didn’t actually feel like it was out last day. Just so we could say goodbye, we had all of our classes today. In Journalism we watched a film, thus we didn’t get too personal. But afterwards, in Seminar and General Studies, that’s when the tears started. It is true that those are the people you bond the most with and it was tough to see them go. We did an activity in which we wrote a letter to ourselves which we will receive in one year - the idea that we were writing to ourselves felt strange and I was struck with the inability to come up with what to write. Finally, I settled on how I currently am, what my goals are for the future, and my experience here at GSP. Then, to break the waterworks, we broke a piñata and did one last Cinnamon Roll Hug for old times sake:) We then proceeded to hug every last person multiple times making promises to keep in touch and visit each other.

The final events they had planned for us were a Banquet and a Lock-In. Getting ready for the banquet with the roommates, it suddenly hit me that this is probably the last time we will be getting ready together. I think letting the 3 of them go will be the hardest out of everything. The Banquet itself was sweet in that we got to eat with our Focus Areas and just hang out one last time. Afterwards, we met for one last hall meeting where Leanndra announced our lock-in, but not before we gave her a present from us: a t-shirt which we all signed and a hand drawn poster signed by us again! Hands down, best RA!

I personally didn’t stay long for the lock-in and I left early because I was incredibly tired but the one memorable part of the evening was the part in which all 354 of us got into a big circle and joined hands. Then, a teacher proceeded to wrap twine around one if our wrists to symbolize our community. Then, by cutting the twine, she symbolized how even apart, we will always be reminded of our community by the twine we now wear as bracelets. I thought that part was touching.

T-minus 9 hours until I see the parents! And on a happy note, I was able to finish my project which was a massive poster board filled with quotes from everyone on campus. Now I will always have a little bit of GSP with me:)
7.18.2013// The Ending is So Close

Official last class of Are You What You Eat with Salome - she even gave away books we used. It was great, we had tons of fun, and learned a ton from Michael Pollan. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect class for me! And thanks to Little Patrick, Salome’s son, for knitting me this rad hat as a get-well present!

We’re nearing the end and I’m getting more and more excited as the hours go by! I’ve actually packed most of my things already:)

Today was practically the last day of class because, even though we meet tomorrow, I highly doubt any work will be done on the last day of the program. In Are You What You Eat, we finished a couple of presentations (mine included), celebrated a birthday with cake, and then just talked until it was time to leave. Patrick, the teachers son sent me off with a hand-knit get well soon hat and Salome sent us off with the books we read in class.

In the afternoon, we wrote thank you letters to either representatives, donors, or speakers that have come to campus. I was assigned the President and General Manager of the TV Station in my hometown which I thought was very fortunate! Plus, I could talk to him about our trip as a class to Louisville’s TV Station. After letter writing, I attended my first knitting and crochet club and realized that I should have been going from the very being! And because every person needs to visit The Fuzzy Duck for a third day in a row, that’s where the club met to knit:)

Lastly, we had our final seminar in class which was perhaps the only part of the today that made me sad. We played another version of Warm and Fuzzies in which everybody wrote a paragraph about each person in class in their Talk-Back Books. It took the entire hour but it was worth it, seeing everybody’s comments really do make a person feel appreciated and cared off. Right after class, we headed to the Film Studies movie premieres and that is how we ended the night! All the movies were incredibly original and very interesting to watch - good job, scholars!

And now I can finally say, only 1 more day left!
7.17.2013// And It's Raining...Again
Of course the weather gets messy when it just got better, and we decide to walk downtown!

Today, all we had for class was focus area which meant Journalism all day. I wrote 2 articles and then spent the rest if class talking with one of the girls in class about an interview she recently did. She interviewed a scholar here on campus and about his plans after GSP - the story he told was incredible. He has his entire life mapped out and he plans on starting out next summer by thru-hiking from Canada to Mexico. I had never heard of thru-hiking until today but it basically means hiking on/off trails through states/cities/countries and roughing it. I got the opportunity to talk to him about Into The Wild because I thought he would find the book interesting and turns out not only has he read it, but it’s one of his favorites:)

In the afternoon, we took a surprise trip to The Fuzzy Duck where we ended up spending 2 hours! Any trip to The Fuzzy Duck is a good trip. We talked about books and school and other things over fruit smoothies and iced coffee. The coffee shop is definitely one of the few things I will miss when I leave! And speaking if leaving, only 2 days left!

Tonight was also The Amazing Race, GSP version. Unfortunately, Hannah and I had to miss it, but as it turns out, when Bria came back from it, turns out the whole thing was a bust and we didn’t miss much. Guess we got lucky:)

I started working on my project to remember my time here at GSP and it’s turning out great!
7.16.2013// One Month Anniversary!
Today marks the day in which, one month ago, we began our Governor’s Scholars Program experience and now, with less than 100 hours remaining, things are starting to wind down.
Besides the fact that my roommates decided to wake me up at 5:30am to go swimming/do laundry, today was a normal day.

Why today was awesome:

1. Our general studies teacher, Salome, cooked us traditional West African cuisine today in class. We had rice with a tomato/onion/habanero pepper/spinach stew on top and then for dessert we had papaya with cottage cheese. Delicious!
2. It was Salome’s birthday today! We celebrated by going into town to The Fuzzy Duck, where we treated her to a cappuccino and dark chocolate covered espresso beans. And then we went to the bakery where I proceeded to get a pretzel the size of my head :D  3. I have an awesome project idea that uses up all my quotes from GSP that I can’t wait to start.  4. Our hall went out to dinner tonight at a local Mexican restaurant called La Finca’s!
5. In Journalism, all we did was prep our table for our final banquet on Friday. Each class will sit together for dinner and they are expected to come up with a centerpiece and name tags and other things that represent their focus area. For an hours work, we did awesome! Everything we’ve done incorporates newspaper in some way and it looks awesome:)
6. This isn’t totally awesome, but it was supposed to be! Film Studies was supposed to screen their movies tonight but unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, the movies were rescheduled to Thursday. At least they weren’t cancelled completely!
7. Lastly, I finally got my letter from my best friend back home. It was just what I needed - can’t wait to see everybody!

3 days left!! (I think this last one is the most awesome of them all!)
7.15.2013// The Race to Nowhere
The day started off slow with Journalism during which we watched a movie allows Control Room on how the news portrayed the Iraq war and Bush’s administration. However, it soon picked up.

In seminar, we did a couple of interesting things. First we played Pats of Appreciation in which everyone besides a group of 3 sits on the floor with their eyes closed. Then the RA announces things like “pat someone who has had an impact on you” or something like that and then the people standing proceed to tap everyone who that applied to. Then the groups switched and etc. I was a little hesitant to play at first thinking I handy connected enough with everybody in class but I was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. No wonder this game is also called Warm and Fuzzies because it makes you feel special:) Afterwards, we all made and presented awards to each other and I received Lover of Life - I’m gonna roll with it!

We had 2 mandatory events today. One was a college fair which I spent a total of 12 minutes in because they were all in-state schools and I am set on going out and as far away from state as possible! The second was a convocation/documentary screening. First, a guy talked to us about GSP reunions and the. The movie, A Race To Nowhere started. The film was incredibly eye-opening and I’m glad they showed it to us. I think all schools and school boards need to see it because it discusses the negative impact school related stress can have on kids. All these AP courses, heavy homework loads, extracurriculars, and so on not only deprive students of sleep but they physically harm them and lead them to self-destructive behavior. The entire film was dedicated to 13-year-old Devon who committed suicide after failing a math test in a class she usually received 100% in. Just thinking about how something so small in the long run caused so young a girl to take her life really puts things into perspective and makes me wonder if everything I’m doing in school is really doing more good than bad. Ill say again, everybody needs to see this documentary.

Tomorrow, we get to cook in general studies! Only 4 days left:)
7.14.2013// Feelin' Productive
I’ve been up since 7 this morning and have gotten so much done! Ok, granted, I didn’t do much this morning besides laundry and lounge around with Jessica but this afternoon sure was packed! While lounging, I did manage to knit a scarf and start one sock though!

We hiked before dinner up and around the lake and it was my first time out in the trails - I loved it! I find hiking incredibly relaxing so I was happy to get out of the dorm. After dinner, we had speakers come to talk (freak us out, same thing) about financial aid and applying to college. They made me realize that I need to start filling out forms. ASAP! And lastly, I was going to join running club but they never showed so I took off and covered 2.5 miles on my own. The first lap around campus was a breeze and I didn’t stop once but boy, that second lap was killer and I had to walk parts of it. But I made it back to the dorm finally! Where I promptly collapsed on the floor;)

Only 5 days left!! I can’t wait to be home:)
7.13.2013// Hit The Dance Floor
In keeping with yesterday’s mood, today was another good day! I got to sleep for a solid 12 hours booyah!

We had to attend a speaker today and I signed myself up for The Real World with Charlie Meyers who is our campus director for GSP. He showed us a video called Shift Happens and spoke to us about things our generation needs to prepare ourselves for. He spoke about the need for civility, preparedness, humility, and other factors that we need to consider in order to thrive in a society that is constantly changing. With technology advancing every minute, we need to be on our toes.

Afterwards, I had a chill afternoon and ate some delicious home cooked meals (thanks mom!) and got to relax before they announced: DANCE TONIGHT! The theme this time was 90’s and I planned on making the most of it since I had to miss the last one due to illness. I didn’t have any of my 90s gear with me here though so I went for hippie - at least, that was my excuse ;) the dance was a huge hit and had everything from the Macarena, to Backstreet Boys, to Cascada, to Mambo No.5 and we left content:) Now, I’m ready to crash into bed since I’m getting up early to do laundry.

AND I just got my AP scores back and I couldn't be more thrilled! :D

Only 6 days left!!
7.12.2013// Complete 180!
July 12th - Complete 180!

The meds seemed to have kicked in and I had an awesome day today! I got to sleep in an extra hour, I wrote two articles in Journalism and in Are You What You Eat, we ate farmers market blackberries, drank Tanzanian tea with farmers market honey, played Who Wants To Be a Millionaire food version, and then once we finished all that, we watched funny YouTube videos like Bad Lip Reading:)

Afterwards, I took a nap and then got the best surprise. I knew my parents were growing to drop off a care package since I’m sick but I didn’t expect what Leanndra brought when she knocked on the door and said “special delivery!” They had brought me, along with a bag of amazing home cooked meals, a vase full of flowers, and a “get well” balloon :) It was the best and exactly what I needed to put me in a good mood!

And to top it all off, we had the most exciting showcase so far! There was improv, Back Street Boys, Titanic scenes, a ton more hilarious hall dances, and so much other great talent! Besides the cd I’m buying for last weeks so I can remember our dance, I definitely need this one too! Too many funny moments that need to be remembered! :)

edit: great news -- the room next to us is infested with bed bugs and the room above us likes to do “interpretive dancing” at 1:30am -.-
7.11.2013// Uneventful
Today was absolutely horrid. I left class early and was escorted to the clinic. The doctor told me either have bronchitis or walking pneumonia. Yippee! -.- Now they’ve got me on meds and I am so exhausted. I missed class, a speech, and swimming with my hall.

They did want me to go to afternoon class so that wasn’t as bad as I thought. We talked about college and then took a trip to Dairy Queen. I also missed running club and the classic film which was It Happened One Night.

I plan on sleeping in tomorrow so hopefully with the extra hour, I’ll feel better. Only thing getting me through this is that we only have 8 more days!
7.10.2013// WHAS 11 News
Windy bus ride to our field trip! Spending the day in Louisville to go check out a news station.Windy bus ride to our field trip! Spending the day in Louisville to go check out a news station.

The entirety of my day was spent not in Morehead today…whether it was worth it is still up for grabs! We travelled to Louisville (2.5 hours of travel) to reach our destination which was Louisville’s local news station. There we got the grand tour, got to look at the master control, and we even got to see a live airing of the news! The ironic part was that we got to try out the green screen for the weather but today was Green Day so a part of us were wearing green and thus we disappeared on screen haha :) We even got to meet TV anchors Kelsey Starks and Andy Treinen who talked about their education and careers leading up to their current jobs. Man, they have to be in the office at 3am! But they do get to leave at 12 in the afternoon so that’s a nice bonus.

Afterwards, we hung out in Louisville and went to Fourth Street Live, a neat place where they hold concerts and there are a bunch of restaurants. After lunch, we once again packed into the stuffy bus for an even longer bus ride because, of course, it started raining so hard that we had to pull over because the driver couldn’t see. By the time we came back, all I could think of was a shower and a 12 hour nap. And that’s exactly what I did:)

Also worth mentioning, take note of The Three Stooges…we had to deal with them and their craziness all day -.-
7.09.2013// Happy 18th Birthday, Jack!
AKA The Day I Got Assassinated

Today was our friend Jack’s birthday and to celebrate, not only did we have a party and food in class, the roommates and I threw him a surprise party! With balloons, streamers, a dragon piñata and everything!

Besides the party, today consisted solely of speeches and speakers. First we heard the Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson who talked to us about the fact that we are the future and we should serve our state. And later on in the day, we heard Reed Polk who I thought was by far the most interesting speaker we’ve had this entire time. He spoke to us about To Kill A Mockingbird and the civil rights movement and the lesson that can be learned from our mistakes. Turns out he was neighbors with and played golf with Harper Lee and he even marched from Selma to Montgomery with MLK Jr. He was funny, entertaining, and quite possibly the best speaker we’ve had this far! Only bad part was that I got tricked and assassinated right outside of the building -.- My bodyguards had told me the wrong person to watch out for!

On a side note, we finished Pollan’s Food Rules and I honestly want to live my life by his words. I need a copy of that book. After tonight’s party filled treats, streamers, and balloon fights, I’m thoroughly wiped. At least now I can say I’ve parties with Future Governor Jack Gupton! ;)
Fieldtrip to Lousiville tomorrow - definitely pumped for getting out if class, but not looking forward to the 2 1/2 hour bus ride.
7.08.2013// A Close Call
Today was just chalk-full of entertainment. I almost killed my target! Man, he didn’t even see me coming until some girl behind me yelled “watch out!” and he turned around and blocked it with his arm -.- We started off with community meeting which always gets a laugh. Next we headed off to Journalism where Lynn had me read my article on roommates because she thought it was well written:) Afterwards, she took us to guest speaker Billy Reed, a sports journalist, who was actually more interesting than I thought he would be. He actually worked closely with Muhammad Ali!

In Seminar, we talked about relationships (platonic and dating) and healthy/unhealthy relationships. We also talked about values and expectations in relationships. One girl had the same exact opinions about dating as me so that made me feel better. Our activity for seminar was to write a letter to someone who has had an impact on our lives. What’s ironic was last night the roommates and I were talking about relationships and about a mistake I made last year. So I was thinking about that and I’ve been trying to find a way to apologize but I never could…so I wrote a letter to the person. I don’t know if I’m going to send it yet…but at least my apology is documented somewhere!

Happy 8th of July! Since it rained on the actual Independence Day, we had our parade today! We made a “Crossing the Delaware” and had people dress up as the Statue of Liberty and George Washington and it was great!

After that came the Pi (as in mathematical sign) race which was 3.14 km around campus after which the first 30 people to make it back get a whipped cream pie to chuck at any person that came after them. Luckily I didn’t get hit and I made it back in under 20 minutes! Considering I’ve never run, that felt like a personal accomplishment :)
Pi Race ready! A pre-run picture and then a post run picture. You can tell we were wiped…and then there’s Jessica with pie on her face…

Finally, to celebrate our last Hall Buddy night with Jason, he took us to an empty classroom where he fed us ice cream came and we watched The Lizzie McGuire Movie! Best. Hall. Buddy. Ever.

Hey now, hey now, this is what dreams are made of… (:
7.07.2013// Trying Something New
In terms of sickness, I think it’s starting to go away - slowly, but surely. Even though I felt better, I still didn’t feel quite up to par meaning I had to skip the grocery run, the hike, and running club. But, the best part about Sundays is the fact that everyone goes to church and the campus is serenely quiet for the first part of the day:)

Besides taking class pictures today and almost getting assassinated, we had an event called Getcha Feet Wet. This entailed signing up last Thursday for an activity that we had never done before. Of course, since I wasn’t there to pick, I was just given the event nobody else wanted: Folk Dancing. But ironically, I probably would have picked it anyway! It was so much fun:D My RA was the one who taught the class along with another RA, Rick, and it was just really awesome. We did a couple circle dances and some line dances. I had Leanndra write some of them down for me: Jiffy Mixer, San Antonio Stroll, White Silver Sands, Old Chunk of Coal, Popcorn, Celebration, and Louisiana Saturday. There was twirling, and spinning, and jumping, and dosie-doing, and so much laughing that I forgot I was sick:) The rest of the day was pretty laid-back considering I still don’t have my energy back - hopefully I’ll be good tomorrow! Oh and thanks to the lovely Jessica, she has taken care of her sick roommate and I now have a fridge stocked with cheese sticks and water;)
7.06.2013// Sick Lusi Doesn't Have Any Fun
literally have not left the dorm all day except for a mandatory speech that ended up doing more harm than good. I have only engaged in one activity today: coughing, coughing, and later on, I coughed some more.

I say that the speech did more harm because we had to walk all the way across campus in the pouring rain which meant we all got drenched and subsequently had to stay in frigid air conditioning for the next hour. If that doesn’t make my cold worse, then I’ll be amazed! Besides, the speech was on healthcare which is a topic I do not find particularly riveting. One good thing though, I killed my first victim today;) I have received my second target already but he knows its me so he is on edge and is super vigilant. He will be harder to assassinate.

I had to skip the Disney movie (Mulan) and the dance which is going on right now! I’m honestly more upset about the dance than anything because I love dances and our pat two have been cancelled -.- But, then again it wouldn’t have been a fun dance if I would have collapsed half-way through. Being sick though did show me how amazingly sweet friends can be! Jessica was doing her laundry and offered to do mine as well and then our mutual friend, Michael, passed on some cough medicine through Bria for me. It was incredibly kind of them and I’ll have to thank them next time I see them:)
7.05.2013// And The Name of The Game is...
^^Assassin. Each person gets a name, their target, and they have to stalk him/her down, and hit them in the back of the head with the paper. All they while, they themselves are a target and have to watch out for their own Assassin. It’s a good day when you wake up and the first thing you see before you’ve had breakfast is a couple people getting assassinated.

Today we had a field trip to Lexington to hear District Judge Joseph Hood speak. He had some incredible stories to share but I felt like any moment he was going to call me out for my non-stop coughing. It didn’t help that I was in the first row either! Afterwards, I took them to my favorite coffee shop for lunch and then we were back on the road. Boy did that trip make me feel homesick.
In General Studies today, we talked about college and preparedness. Her son, Little Patrick, had us do an activity where we were the first settlers of a continent (we got Asia) and we had to make a survival plan with limited resources. Let me tell you, it was hard finding shelter/food/safety/ water with only tall grass, horses, granite, and poisonous flowers!

Today was also our showcase night! We all got dressed up like men and the boys like women and we looked h.o.t. Those boys sure knew how to work a headband! I was so worried we would mess up because we were unprepared but we didn’t! Not even once! We had the audience laughing like crazy - I don’t think it could have gone any better. And, it's also pretty obvious that we make very handsome John Travolta's aka Danny's with our professionally drawn on goatees and beards;) And with other acts like a rap version of “Gold Digger” and another hall’s rendition of Mulan’s “I’ll Make A Man Out of You”, we were in the company of other great and awesome people. Hopefully I can get pictures soon and once I get my hands on a DVD, I’ll hopefully put the video up too. The only low point was that it lasted for 2 1/2 hours with me coughing/dying pretty much every minute -.-

Now, I’m off to collapse in my bed and hopefully sleep off this nasty cold.
7.04.2013// Books Change Lives
^^That would be the tagline of IBP, and it’s true! The convention went well, I just hope my wicked cough didn’t scare any people off haha. We had two official booths, one for IBP, the other specifically for Ambassadors for Change. Tejas would usually start off talking to a person about the program after Kate had lured them in with a flyer and then they’d switch to me to explain about my project (Hopefully I'll get a post up about it soon!) We had a good system going!

There's Kate and I next to our lovely booth!

Both of them took me out for lunch and I really enjoyed myself. They’re such fun people to be around, hysterical too. It’s funny, being around them makes me about x10 more sarcastic than I usually am, and that’s probably only half to Tejas’ level - I have to step up my game!

Once the crowd fizzled out, my parents picked me up and we went to IKEA, the dinner, and drive back. I felt like I was cheating the GSP system but they really were my only ride back ;) plus, we got to listen to both Adam Lambert CD’s on the way back and that’s always a good thing. Mom stocked me up on food again and now we also have a microwave boo-yah!

Apparently, I didn’t miss much in classes. It’s been raining all day (there’s a flash flood warning on right now) so our 4th of July cookout and fireworks show were cancelled. We will be having a parade on Monday though!

I’m incredibly glad I went to the convention today! It was a great experience and I’m glad I got the opportunity to participate. I was sort of disappointed I missed my classes because today was seminar and i always enjoy that. Tomorrow is another early morning fieldtrip and then we perform!

Happy 4th of July!

7.03.2013// 1 of 2 Cincinnati Trips

Journalism Fieldtrip to Cincinnati! Headed over to the Cincy Art Museum for the day. Meghan says hello!

Bright and early, we packed into a bus and headed over to Cincy! Although the travel time was 5 hours total there and back, and it was a fun trip, I can’t say that it was really worth it haha oops :P We’re in Journalism, right? How is going to an art museum related? Granted, we will be writing articles about several pieces of art but we also had the option to go to a news station and Lynn chose the museum…how does that make sense? Oh well, at least we were out of the classroom and off campus! :)

One good thing that came out of the long bus ride though was I started and almost finished a new book! I’m reading A Separate Peace by John Knowles and it’s interesting so far! Funny thing is, the boarding school he talks about in the novel (Devon) is actually modeled after the school he actually attended and the one I applied to! It’s Exeter up in New Hampshire and I find it really funny that its such a coincidence :)

Once we for back, we went straight to practice for showcase and afterwards, I was feeling really sluggish, so Hannah and I went running. It was all good and fun for the first mile…until it started raining. I mean pouring. raining. Yay. We still finalized the second mile and a half but man, we were soaked and dripping by the time we got back to the dorms! Did we get some looks though haha ;)
The rest of the night was spent in the dorm (we missed dinner because we were running) and we ate dinner while watching the season 2 finale of The Walking Dead. I couldn’t even speak after it was over…my mind is still blown. We’re going to practice the dance tonight too and then it is immediately off to bed for me because I, lucky girl that I am, will be getting up at 5 for my second trip to Cincinnati. Woo! -.- Oh well, it should still be really fun, if you ignore how early I’ll be getting up haha!
