AKA The Day I Got Assassinated
Today was our friend Jack’s birthday and to celebrate, not only did
we have a party and food in class, the roommates and I threw him a
surprise party! With balloons, streamers, a dragon piñata and
everything!
Besides the party, today consisted solely of speeches and speakers.
First we heard the Lieutenant Governor Jerry Abramson who talked to us
about the fact that we are the future and we should serve our state. And
later on in the day, we heard Reed Polk who I thought was by far the
most interesting speaker we’ve had this entire time. He spoke to us
about To Kill A Mockingbird and the civil rights movement and the lesson
that can be learned from our mistakes. Turns out he was neighbors with
and played golf with Harper Lee and he even marched from Selma to
Montgomery with MLK Jr. He was funny, entertaining, and quite possibly
the best speaker we’ve had this far! Only bad part was that I got
tricked and assassinated right outside of the building -.- My bodyguards
had told me the wrong person to watch out for!
On a side note, we finished Pollan’s Food Rules and I honestly want
to live my life by his words. I need a copy of that book. After
tonight’s party filled treats, streamers, and balloon fights, I’m
thoroughly wiped. At least now I can say I’ve parties with Future
Governor Jack Gupton! ;)
Fieldtrip to Lousiville tomorrow - definitely pumped for getting out
if class, but not looking forward to the 2 1/2 hour bus ride.
