As fast-paced as my life seemed to get, up until my junior year I always seemed to find time to read for pleasure. And then, junior year came, and along with it AP classes, and stress, and my love of reading fell to the back-burner. Reading used to be something I did to relax and always had time for; it was what I always did after school, after all the homework, to get my mind off of everything that had happened at school. There was a time when I would read about 2 books a week. Granted, they weren't your Crime and Punishment or War and Peace, but they were books nonetheless. And the most important part was that I enjoyed my time when I read.

Now as school has slowly infiltrated what seems like every aspect of my life, I seldom do much reading outside of class requirements. Last year, I believe I read no more than five books outside of those needed for school? And okay, so for those who don't enjoy reading, five may seem like the amount of books they have read in their entire life, but for me thats only like ... a months worth of reading material.  If that. Yeah, I know I know, sign me up for Bookaholics Anonymous...

Regardless, I've been toying around with the idea of starting a book club for a while now. And now that I'm working on my mentoring project and my 17 Experiences, it seemed like the perfect opportunity! Thus LUC Book Club was born! It is just me and two of my close friends (the name stemming from the first letter of our names -- Lusi, Urvi, and Courtney) and our addiction to Young Adult fiction. A guilty pleasure, if you will;)

We decided that this book club would be something purely for fun -- no stress, no drama, just good wholesome entertainment. And the best part is, we are in charge of our book choices! By starting this up, it gives us a breather from school and lets us have some personal time away from our work. And then there are our book club meetings which  usually include delicious treats, good ambience, and the three of us arguing loudly, at the same time may I add, over which parts were better than others. We get too invested in our literature...that's what we'll blame it on...

So yeah! We will be updating this page as the year progresses and as we get farther along in what we read. Fear not, there will not be spoilers, but general views on what we thought of the book/series. Though our opinions may at times vary, that only makes book club more interesting:)

~A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.~
