It's been raining here the past two days, and it hasn't let up even the slightest bit. Yet somehow, I am perfectly okay with that. Yesterday morning we had our first official book club meeting over coffee and pumpkin muffins and it was super exciting! I'll make sure to write about it this weekend:)
There hasn't been anything riveting that has happened over the past while. In fact, the past two weeks have been so physically and emotionally draining that even though we just had fall break, I'm ready for another. To top it all off, Gpa and Dad left yesterday, and now its just Mom and I. and not that that is a bad thing -- sure, I'm going to miss Dad and Gpa but Dad will be back soon and we'll see the relatives this summer. But, not that it's just the two of us, the house sure feels awful empty... My friend has this running joke that our house could pass for a museum because it's always empty and clean. har-de-har-har -.-
For our Environmental Class, we had to take an online survey on our ecological footprint and I was thoroughly shocked to say the least.
Here I thought that I was making earth conscious decisions, but turns out that nope! I'm still screwing up our planet and our resources. The survey doesn't take long and then once you have answered all the question, it will compile your results and tell you how many earths you would use but it will also tell you how you rank compared to the national average. What confused me was that my average was much below the national average, yet by the time my life is over, I would have used the resources of virtually 4 worlds, which cannot be sustained. We try our best to maintain a fairly ecological household -- we recycle, we carpool, we have a garden, we limit excess spending -- yet, according to these results, that's not going to cut it. So if what we do isn't enough (and most don't do many of the things we do), what happens next? Try the survey out here, and see how many worlds your habits will consume.
And to end on a slightly less depressing in a the-world-is-going-to-end type of way, something big is happening tomorrow...I'm not saying what it is, but keep your fingers crossed for me...
