But then again, I forgot that by missing school, I would also miss two quizzes I had that day and a prep for a quiz I have on Monday. Woops! Poor judgement on my account, but I still say it was worth it. Friday, mom didn't have to go into work either so we spent the day watching mind numbing sitcoms that are oh-so-addicting and treating ourselves to tasty treats like this baklava we picked up form the Middle Eastern restaurant in town.
As for the rest of the weekend, it was spent mostly at home doing work around the house or for school and what-not. Mom worked both days with her business partner, so that kept her occupied for some time. On Saturday, I slipped away for a little bit to help a friend out with an essay, but that was only partially successful. We got through half of it, but it only took us 2 hours -- I blame it our amazing ability to get sidetracked! Afterwards, I came home and cooked an incredibly delicious pasta dinner that both mom and I are still dreaming of.
As for Sunday, we made our regular Sunday-grocery-shopping routes, plus a few extras just for fun, and that took up a majority of our time. This weekend has been relatively laid back and I've enjoyed it immensely. It was a nice break compared to the chaos that ensued last weekend. I've started reading Heart of Darkness (among many other things) for school, and I believe I like it so far. It just better not take away from my recreational reading;) The rest of my homework was done to the tune of Mad Men playing in the background. I just picked it up, considering all 5 seasons are on Netflix, after having it recommended to me. (That and Game of Thrones which I have yet to find anywhere) I think the idea behind the show is genius, I just don't know if I can get past the misogyny long enough to actually enjoy the plot line! And now, here's to the start of a brand new week! Let's hope it's better than my last one was.
