9.21.2013// Welcome Home
Finally, after a month, I have my mom back home! Thank god, dad and I were starting to get on each others’s nerves…

Anyways, not only is mom here, but so is my grandpa. This is his first ever visit to the states and flying here was his first time on a plane. He doesn’t speak any English, and frankly, I have no idea what he’s going to do everyday while we’re at school/work. He doesn’t read, and it’s not like he can watchTV… It must be so strange for him to be here, in this foreign place where everything is new to him and he can’t understand anything. Back in Bulgaria, he would be working on the farm all day or something of that sort. Here, he won’t be able to do anything…

My grandpa isn’t the easiest person to get along with, I’ll be honest. He stubborn, boy, is he stubborn. He sticks out like a sore thumb - it’s obvious that he is not American. And, to put it nicely, he’s used to having other people do stuff for him. He doesn’t like being told what to do, that’s for sure. However, our family dynamic is nothing like that in the sense that we all share responsibilities which in turn means he will have set responsibilities too…it’ll be interesting how those go over haha. I was watching him today and his eyes kept darting around trying to soak everything in. He kept asking questions, too. I wonder what he thinks when he sees the things we see everyday? I bet the things we consider to be normal shock him, just because of the cultural difference. The culture in Bulgaria is so shockingly different - the food is different, the social culture, the fashion, the transportation, everything. He must be feeling so incredibly overwhelmed by new information - like sensory overload!

He and mom crashed at around 8, bone tired form their long flight so hopefully they get some sleep and we get to do something fun tomorrow!
