6.18.2013// Only the Second Day
I didn’t think that I would feel homesick so soon. Talking to my roommates, I feels like we’ve already been here for at least two weeks. Today, we had both Focus and General Studies and neither was too incredibly fascinating. We did play a really fun game in General studies though to remember everyone’s names!
In Focus Group (which had the strangest time of 6:45-8:00 pm) I was forced to give my book report. I bravely chose Fear and Loathing not knowing how everyone would react but I’m really glad I did! The teacher enjoyed my commentary and even said that many aspiring writers look up to Thompson for inspiration. After that, we chatted some more about the book and no one seemed genuinely afraid. So all around, besides stumbling over my words, not bad for a first presentation!
Right after class let out, the directors had organized a film for us in the auditorium: A Face in the Crowd with Andy Griffith. While the plot was decent, it seemed to drag a little and the ending wasn’t really resolved. But definitely a fun experience! Oh and at dinner, we signed up for our clubs that we want to participate in. I signed up for Disney Movie Club, Beginners Running Club, and Hiking Club. Now those I’m really excited about.
On a side note, everybody around here has been taking about a local coffee shop/bookstore/theatre called The Fuzzy Duck and now I’m very intrigued…shame we can’t go off campus!
