Happy Valentine's Day! Happy day of lovers, or kissing, of overpriced chocolates and roses, of reservations for two at fancy restaurants, of huge stuffed animals, and cheesy romantic movies. This day really is a year in the making isn't it? For all the hype that Valentine's Day, about how commercialized it or how it's just a ploy to pend money, the concept behind it isn't at all a bad one. That is, if you have someone to share it with! Lukas was my honorary valentine for the day:)
Remember those really cute Valentine's you would bring in for your entire class in elementary school? The ones with the tv stars or the really bad puns on them? The ones that you hand write everyone's names on and then personally give them out in class? Those are the ones! I used to love giving them out when I was little (and receiving them, mostly because they usually came with candy hehe) but as I got older, I kind of forgot about them. I mean, the tradition of giving valentine's in class is lost by middle school not to mention high school. I'd forgotten how exciting it was to write out little notes on each one, and put the stickers on them...boy it's like Christmas all over again! Lucky for me, our English teacher this year is a sucker for things like this so she suggested we throw a little party in honor of the day and bring in valentine's for the entire class! It was great - everyone was passing cards out, we had mo-town and lovey music playing in the background, chocolate was being eaten. A lovely way to spend an entire class period if you ask me.
So go forth and enjoy this Valentine's day! Be it with a loved one, or with friends, by yourself with a tub of ice cream, or at an anti-Valentine's day party - there's no judging here. Just make sure that whatever you do, do with a stomach full of chocolate (because that's a must on V-Day)!
And now, some of my favorite cheesy Valentine's Day pick-up lines:
And of course there's got to be a rejection one as well:
