1.05.2014// Adventures in Swedish Cuisine
Today, we had a cooking extravaganza over at Sophia's in which Lukas, a native Swede, taught us the art of Swedish pastries (because obviously, the proper way to learn the techniques of Swedish cooking is directly from a true Swede.) He taught us how to make 'bullar' which is a type of Swedish dessert very reminiscent of the American cinnamon roll. We went all out, aprons and everything - the whole shebang. However, we're not the most prepared cooks in the world and a trip to the grocery store for milk, in our aprons covered in flour, mind you, took place and was shortly followed by a trip next-door to borrow flour from the neighbor when ours ran out. Like I said, we were born to be bakers.

We are pros at guestimating quantities of butter - we should enter in competitions
But just don't ask us to convert deciliters to cups...

Shpook was our faithful kitchen companion, through and through

There was the bound-to-happen flour explosion disaster ->

And the aftermath of said explosion - flour everywhere

Then we had a bit too much fun manually spreading the butter
Three cooks in the kitchen (each with a mind of their own)

The pearl sugar on top was the perfect final touch...

So we applied it over the bullar, liberally

Patiently awaiting the 'bullar' to be done

Hot and fresh out of the oven...

And the final product - perfection

And they taste just as good as they look;)
