The week of Thanksgiving is a glorious one: it means only two days of school, and then five days of break, with delicious food all throughout. But this year, it seemed as if we would get even luckier. Weather prediction for Monday night: snow, and lots of it. We were going to have a snow day, I was sure of it. Or if not, then an ice day no doubt about it. The temperature was steadily dropping and I made no plans of attending school the next day. I even screwed myself over by staying up late at night watching sitcoms and fantasizing how I would sleep in and stay in bed all day the next day. I probably went to bed around two a.m.?
At six a.m., my alarm clock rings and the first I do is check the school's website. I'm sure that I'm going to see in big red letters the words 'School is not in session!' but much to my chagrin, there were no such words... I run out of bed and go to the window and there is not. even. a. single. snowflake. anywhere. I wasn't having any of that. I was outraged.
Out of protest, I went back to bed and refused to get up for school. I tried to convince my mom in vain to let me skip school, but she wasn't having any of that. So I was forced to go to school. And it was not pleasant. The most annoying part was that I did absolutely nothing through out the day. Seriously, I watched movies in Environmental Science, had a Thanksgiving party in Art History, and painted with watercolors and played Just Dance in English.
But I survived. It was painstaking, but I managed to get through the last day before break. But here's the catch! Today I wake up, the first day of break, and what do I see but a thick layer of snow covering everything. And not only was there snow everywhere, the roads weren't in great condition either. Basically, if we had had school today, we would have had a snow day. The snow day that was meant to be for yesterday....Great -.-
So, instead of having a snow day, I enjoyed my first day of break. I slept in, had a nice relaxing breakfast, and then a friend and I went out to go work on college essays. We went to a cafe for lunch and then spent the next five hours half writing college essays, half gossiping and watching random youtube videos. And then we rewarded our 'hard work' with a trip to Anthropologie. Break well deserved;)
