This guy right here, he's my best friend. And tomorrow is his 18th birthday.
It's funny to think about, but I met Davis four years ago in our freshman art class. We sat by each other at the 'cool' table with all the seniors and we thought we were cool by association;) We weren't that close freshman year, but we progressively became better friends as the years went by. Now, senior year, I can without a doubt call him my best friend.
Our friendship is one of those where we can do the most random of things, or nothing at all, and still have a good time. On mondays, we have a set date in which we leave school an hour early (don't worry, we're excused!), we go get coffee and talk for a little while, then go back to school for history club, and then head back to his house to work on our homework for the night and then watch the newest episode of The Walking Dead. That's just how it goes.
Davis, I can tell you absolutely anything and I hope the same goes for you. Your friendship means the world to me, and I don't know where I would be if we hadn't ever met. So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving in a couple days, I'm thankful that we met that one day in art freshman year and I pushed your hand down into the glitter paint we were using. I didn't know you, and you probably thought I was a freak. But as far as 'meeting friends' stories go, I think ours will always be a hit:)
I know this past week has been rough for you, on account of circumstances that are beyond your control, but you're strong and you don't have to handle this on your own. It may seem tough right now, but things will get better; in fact, they already are. So, enjoy your birthday and take the day for yourself. You deserve it, I mean, you are an adult now! So now, have the best birthday ever, and don't forget the little people now that you're a full-fledged adult;) And I better be there when you buy your first lottery ticket!
