11.16.2013// A Bulgarian Dinner Party

As you all know, this blog is my 200-hour mentoring project that I'm doing for my senior year. And, it has been one of my favorite experiences of senior year. Well, one of my friends, Sophia, is also doing a blog for her project, except her's has a different spin on it. She blogs at The Plate of the Planet which is her space to discover more about food and culture as she attempts to cook her way through the world (she's ambitious like that, she is)

The summer before last, she came home with me to Bulgaria for about a month and a half. We visited all sorts of different places, tried all sorts of different foods (she still likes to pretend hate me for the fact I made her eat intestines... haha sucker) and we had an amazing time.

Now that we're back in the US, and that summer is long behind us, even though my family and I still eat traditional Bulgarian foods (because...I mean, that's all we know), Sophia misses it occasionally. Or so she tells, probably so she doesn't hurt my feelings;) So, as she was searching for people to interview and new foods to try and cook, she turned to my mom and I for help! Thus, our Bulgarian Dinner Party was born.

Sophia is planning on doing a very detailed post about it in the near future so I won't steal her thunder by writing all about it before she has the chance to. I'll just say that it was a four course dinner (Appetizer, Salad, Soup, and Entree), cooked almost entirely by Sophia, with the help of myself and my mom. Sophia can now almost pass for a full-fledged Bulgarian;) So, until Sophia's post goes viral, which I'm sure it will because she's hysterical, enjoy these pictures of our feast to tide you over! We even ate in the official dining room, so that's how you know it's a fancy dinner party;)
