10.06.2013// Weekend Wrap-up
As grandpa's visit with us is winding down, so are the places we can think of to take him to. Thus begins the weekend.

Friday, I played hookie from school and after showing up for first hour to take a quiz I *cough* got sick *cough* We're gonna count that one as a mental health day, cause, those exist right? I spent the rest of the day in bed writing with my mug of tea next to me. That night, mom and dad took grandpa out for dinner with some off their friends leaving me with nothing else to do but listen to very embarrassing music and take pictures of my kitty.

She's so photogenic;)

On Saturday, the morning was spent sleeping in and taking our time waking up. Later, there was more writing in bed. I can now officially say that Chapter Two of my book is finished! I'm now onto drafting Chapter Three. That afternoon, while the parents took grandpa out to Keeneland to watch some horse races, I went out with a couple friends. See, the original plan for the night was to go on a Zombie Paintball Hayride and shoot zombies  - fun, no? Anyway, that was all good, except they got me at 4 and the Paintball started at 8:30. So, cue the time wasting activities...now!

First there was soccer and frisbee in the park (at the same time) but we slowly got rained out. So we moved our party of four to Target, but not really because I saw Petsmart so we had to make a u-turn, obviously, to go look at the cats. And we did:) But by the time we did that, the rain was atrocious and there was no way we were going out into the parking lot anytime soon. So we resolved to waste some more time by heading in to Marshall's next door. Let me tell you, never have I seen two boys enjoy shopping and find matching outfits as much as these two did - mind you, the matching outfits included denim vests, oy!

This aimless wandering continued for much some time until we resolved to actually do something so we got our act together and tried to come up with a game plan. Originally, it was Zombie Paintball but the reviews sucked. Next, it was Laser Tag but we would have run into unpleasant people. Then someone threw out the idea of watching The Conjuring, but I shot that down faster that anyone could say 'Bloody Mary.' So someone suggested a haunted trail, but we're all broke. We tried to find a party, but alas there were none. We could have gone to Target, but that also meant spending money. We though of bowling, but that was a no-go. The guys shot down skating. Finally, we just went to Panera for soup.

Basically, the moral of the story is, when you're cheap and indecisive, go eat some soup. Just don't spend twenty minutes in line trying to decide which soup to get, like we did... And after that fiasco of plans failed, we went back to one of the boys' houses and had ourselves a little bonfire/ghost story telling party. Complete with video games and walking the dog afterwards.

Sunday was road trip day, and we packed up the car and headed over to Cincinnati to wander around and show grandpa. We ate at Hoffbrauhaus, a German restaurant and brewery in honor of Oktoberfest in Germany today. And after our stomachs were happily filled, we were ready to explore. There was a trip to the Aquarium, which didn't impress grandpa that much. And of course, you can't go to Cincinnati without going to IKEA. This time, I didn't by anything (which is definitely not the norm) but I'm hopefully going back next week which just means I'll have time to mull over the things I saw today and decide what I want;)

It's been a rainy weekend, and it seems as if it's going to continue into the week. For most people, rain puts them in a funky mood but it's the opposite for me. Knowing it's going to be raining tomorrow actually has me looking forward to the day:) And now, here's to falling asleep to rain against your window.
