Daylight savings definitely hit us hard over here, as observed by the fact that I slept an extra two hours. So the remedy to oversleeping and needing to fill a Sunday with a productive activity: bake pastries. And not just any pastries, but the easiest and fastest pastries known to man. These were baked then taste-tested with my dear friend Sophia, who run's her own food blog! Check it out at The Plate of the Planet!
Pigs Ears
You will need:
1 package of phyllo dough
25 grams of butter
50 grams of sugar
dash of vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
1. Let phyllo dough unfreeze until you can unfold it without any breaking. Spread it out on a flat surface. Lightly melt the butter and then spread evenly across one side of the phyllo sheet.
2. In a bowl, mix the sugar and add a small amount of vanilla for flavor.
3. Sprinkle the sugar liberally until there is a coat covering the butter.
4. Begin folding the phyllo sheet from both sides until they meet in the middle. Then, cut one inch slices of the dough and set them on a cooking sheet. Once your entire roll is cut and all the slices are laid down (leave half to an inch of space between each slice) you are ready to bake.
5. Bake for 10 minutes, flip, bake for ten more or until they begin to brown.
Voila you're done! Enjoy. Preferable with good friends, and even better coffee. Now wasn't that easy?
