8.19.2013// Wise Choices, Good Tomorrows
Today was a hectic day. heck, it’s going to be a hectic week! Mom leaves for Bulgaria on Wednesday so that means dad and I need to fend for ourselves for a month until she gets back…this will get very interesting.

As for today, I spent a total of 12 straight hours at school today -.- I was at school early at 7:30am for a class meeting to discuss senior mentoring projects and college applications/preparedness/aka stuff I haven’t done yet which only served to stress me out before the sun was even up. And then, I was at school until 7:30pm in order to attend a mandatory 4-hour driving class that every novice driver must attend before getting their license. In between, it was nothing but lessonlessonlesson, studystudystudy, and homeworkhomeworkhomework. Once I got home, at 8, the homework waiting for me was to read a chapter from the Environmental textbook, do 20 math problems, English worksheet, and watch an hour-long BBC documentary for Art History. That only took about, oh maybe a bajillion hours, and that’s not factoring time for showering and dinner, and let’s face it, sleeping.

In the beginning, I was mad at the driving class. 4 hours, on a Monday nonetheless, to hear things I had heard countless times before…don’t drink and drive…always wear your seat belt…etc. Granted, while I do still find the time a little exorbitant (there was plenty of filler stories to pass the time from our instructor) I also now realize the value the class has to offer. sure, I’d heard many of the things before, but there were also some I had never even thought to think of. For example, I never knew that a person was going 35mph, they would need at least 105ft to stop properly. It was little things like that and like learning how the Points System works that I think allows the transition from a novice to a more responsible driver to occur. Of course, the tragic stories of drunk driving or careless accidents we heard and watched clips about also helped reaffirm the dangers of driving recklessly. While I am glad that it is over with and I never have to sit through that again, I am glad that young drivers are forced to attend the course. In the end, it is all about keeping the roads safe.

"Make wise choices, have a good tomorrow. Make careless choices, have no tomorrow."
