Red River Gorge, to be exact. First of all, I’d just like to
recognize all those Veterans who served for our country today and say
that their sacrifice will never be forgotten. To celebrate this day, we
all decided to take a day trip out to the Gorge and hike! we started out
at 11:30am and did not arrive home until around 7:30pm. I know my legs
will be killing me tomorrow! The trail was neither too rough nor too
easy - just the right amount (4.00 km) of difficulty to wear us all out.
It was so incredibly refreshing to be out and surrounded by nature (no
matter how muggy and hot) just to be able to break the same routine you
follow daily when stuck at home. Trekking is something I plan on doing a lot more often during break.
One of my friends who came with is us turning 21 on the 23rd of June
but sadly, we realized that I will be away and won’t be able to
celebrate with him. Trying to come up with an alternative, I thought up
the following: ROADTRIP! Thus, the idea that we gather a group and go
down to New Orleans was born - now, hopefully we’ll go though with it
because I’ve always wanted to go! (It’s probably my fascination with the
supernatural and the occult that’s acting as the driving force behind
this desire, knowing that N’awlins is a hotbed for such paranormal
activity) Anyway, the entire trail was absolutely beautiful but what
took our breath away was the view from up top Chimney Rock -
spectacular!
Finally, as a reward for hiking all day, we took ourselves out to the
one and only, famous Miguel’s Pizza. For my first time there, it was
delish! Now the plan is to relax, read a little, drink some tea, and go
to bed because, boy am I wiped and I have a long day ahead of me
tomorrow!
